On November 15, people packed the Park Theatre to support dig! magazine. What a party—happy people, shiny prizes, stellar music, and the great feeling of banding together in a big shout-out to the Jazz Capital of Canada!

The evening opened with Quincy Davis & Promise, a band of top-level students in the Jazz Studies program at U of M. Then the Jazz Studies Alumni All-Stars amazed us all with their musicianship and stage savvy. To cap off the evening, Steve Kirby and the Northern Prairie Jazz Collective—made up of the charismatic Jazz Studies faculty—released their debut CD, Stepchild.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate eight full years of dig! magazine, and to generate much-needed resources to push through another year of bringing the jazz news to Winnipeg and the world beyond. We are able to do what we do because a whole community cares!
